Money in sport
Has the opportunity to make 'huge' amounts of money in many sports meant that a lot of young people see it as an opportunity rather than a passion.
If yes has this meant that we risk not seeing some of the 'creative' geniuses come thru due to the change in culture?

It's still the case in all sports that you have many years of hard training before you are going to make any money.
Can't see the prospect of pots of gold putting off the creative genius. Possibly he/she would think harder about choosing the sport to make a commitment to. At youth/school level a superior fitness level, co-ordination, build and intelligence is successful at a range of activities.

Joe

In general I think not. It's not unlike music. Certainly we can all see the fame and fortune that comes to the stars of the music industry, but that won't make a kid who hates the piano sit and practice for hours everyday. Even rock star wannabes abandon the guitar after it becomes apparent that significant practice is required to be come good.
No passion, no greatness.
